Jennifer Anderson

Jennnifer (Jen) Anderson has been working in private practice for over 12 years. With a diploma of Transpersonal Counselling, Jen is in the process of completing her Master of Professional Psychology at Macquarie University.

Jen has an Advanced Graduate Diploma of Psychology from Deakin University, and Diploma of Psychological Science from The Australian College of Applied Psychology. She has a Bachelor of Social Science and Master of International Development from LaTrobe University focusing on psycho-social development working with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. These include Australian Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people, people with Asylum and Refugee backgrounds, and young people in Out of Home Care.

Jen also teaches Sociology at Deakin University, and has assisted various research projects in academic and community settings working on advisory boards with difficult youth transition, and developing a voice for children within child services. Jen integrates these various systems of knowledge in her understanding of human behaviour and environmental impacts on individual psychology. She uses a holistic and client centred approach in therapy, and through deep exploration guides each person to bring their unique personal story and journey to life. Jen assists people to tap into their innate ability and human potential to self-heal, integrate new meaning, and thrive beyond painful life experience. She provides psychoeducation and various evidence-based techniques including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Jen works with people from the age of 16+, with special interest in various life transitions, with members of the LGBTIQA + community, young people early to mid-twenties, relationship difficulties, self-esteem and self-acceptance, menopause, and with the elderly.
